Hi there! My name is Kristin Swiat and I am a bodyworker, movement based artist and educator dedicated to the connection between the body and mind.
I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2010, though movement has been present in my life since I started dancing at the age of 4. I earned a BFA in Dance from Juilliard in 2003 and later studied Massage and Shiatsu at The Swedish Institute in NYC.
I enjoy incorporating the specificity of therapeutic massage with an energetic and intuitive approach. I also incorporate Craniosacral Therapy, Focusing, Pilates and other embodied practices into my sessions to help the people I work with to connect more deeply with their bodies and their innate capacity to heal. I am currently in my Advanced year of study at Somatic Experiencing International, studying the trauma-informed work of Peter Levine.
I hope to cultivate a safe and non-judgemental space for you to be in a state of contemplative curiosity and presence with yourself, to bring awareness to your body and its connections to your emotions. Through the practice of bodywork and somatic talk work, I hope to help you create a deeper relationship with yourself, a greater resilience in difficult times, and a chance to let your body soften and unwind the patterns that keep you stuck in pain and states of stress.
Outside of my practice as a bodyworker, I am also a lifelong dancer and have a deep love of nature and sustainable farming. I am originally from the area around the Shawangunk Mountains of New York state but also lived for many years in Europe and I am developing a connection to New Mexico where I frequently go to farm.
